trot. (with a lowercase 't') is a French start-up company with plans to go big with their electric scooter rental service in major cities across the globe.
The name 'trot.' comes from the French word 'trottinette' meaning scooter. The company wanted to keep the name short and snappy, but still wanted to directly reference the French origins.
The lowercase 't' was a late suggestion from the board but after hearing the reasoning behind it, it was more than necessary.
"French is a delicate language, often soft-spoken. Because of this, we have decided that our name needs to be soft-spoken too. An uppercase 'T' has too much aggression."
Because of the 'soft' nature of the brand, paired with their eco-friendly outlook, a rounded sans-serif was chosen to add further emphasis.
The scooter itself is a first design concept but the idea is that there will be multiple scooter designs with a 'pick-and-mix' of the brand colours.
As 'trot.' is a start-up, they requested UI/UX design to show to potential investors. What I have presented them with is an app prototype that shows the location of the user, scooter locations, journey costs and cumulative trip times.
